WCV Residents Receive New Australian Flag in Preparation for ANZAC Day

NSW MP Robyn Preston and Federal Senator for NSW Dave Sharma Visit Windsor Country Village Residents Ahead of ANZAC Day.

On Friday, March 8th, 2024, the community of Windsor Country Village received a well received visit from NSW Member of Parliament for Hawkesbury, Robyn Preston and Federal Senator for NSW, Dave Sharma.

The purpose of the visit was to present residents with a new Australian Flag, marking a poignant gesture in preparation for ANZAC Day. This symbolic event brought together residents and dignitaries alike for an afternoon of reflection and camaraderie.

Windsor Country Village holds a special place in the hearts of its residents, many of whom have contributed significantly to the region’s history.

Among them are three individuals who have served in active duty, including Veteran Hermon “Dave” Jones. Jones’s service in both the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), with many years stationed at Richmond RAAF Base, exemplifies the spirit of sacrifice and dedication to duty.

ANZAC Day holds profound significance for the residents of Windsor Country Village, who gather annually to pay homage to all those who have served and sacrificed for the freedom of their nation. This day of remembrance serves as a solemn reminder of the bravery and resilience exhibited by those who have defended Australia’s values and way of life.

The tight-knit community of Windsor Country Village thrives on coming together in both sombre and celebratory moments. With over 110 residents, many of whom hail from the Hills and Hawkesbury regions, the village takes pride in engaging with the broader community.

Recent activities have included attending the Premier’s Gala Concert at the Sydney ICC as part of the NSW Seniors Festival, as well as celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with a lunch at The Fiddler and enjoying a trip to the Fish Markets for lunch.

Looking ahead to April, residents of Windsor Country Village are eager to embark on outings to Mt. Wilson to witness the breathtaking autumnal colours and to the Blue Lagoon Resort on the Central Coast for a relaxing beach stay.

Amidst these moments of joy and leisure, the significance of ANZAC Day will not be forgotten, as residents pause to reflect on the freedoms they enjoy, made possible by the sacrifices of those who served in the military.

Dave Sharma’s visit and the presentation of the new Australian Flag serve as reminders of the importance of honouring the sacrifices of veterans and cherishing the values they fought to protect.
